Dr. Matthew Marquis
Meet Dr. Matthew Marquis. Growing up in Woolwich Township, NJ, Dr. Marquis was encouraged by his mom since he was young to become a veterinaria. Family trips to the zoo and always wanting to bring home animals after sparked his passion for animal care early on.
After earning a degree in Animal Sciences from Rutgers University in 2012, Dr. Marquis went on to graduate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Before becoming a vet, he was an intern at the Philadelphia Zoo while also working as a research technician at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Dr. Marquis joined Cape Veterinary Hospital as Medical Director in November 2024. His favorite part of being a vet is performing challenging surgeries and dental procedures and seeing his patients live healthier, happier lives afterward.
Dr. Marquis, his wife Dr. Macy Marquis (veterinarian for the Cape May Zoo), and their daughter Lily have four dogs (Cato, a German Shepherd; Bowie, an Australian Shepherd; Milo, a Lab mix; and Mack, a Greyhound mix), two macaws (Captain and Oaulie), and several reptiles.
